2012 Summer Academy: A Great Success!

summer academy logotypeOver 650 students enrolled in this year’s SEF Summer Academy, held at Wilson, Jefferson and Gabrielino school sites.  K-5 students enjoyed a variety of enriching classes, middle schoolers took courses to better prepare them for the new school year, and our high school students took credit courses to ease 2012-2013 workloads.  New this year… SEF helped 42 students attend the Summer Academy by way of a community donation scholarship fund.

Surveys and feedback from parents, students and teachers have been overwhelmingly positive.  Of those surveyed, over 87% of parents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the Summer Academy program, 82% said they would likely enroll again next year, and many offered wonderful suggestions for program improvements.  K-8 students and teaching staff also gave us ideas for next year that we hope to incorporate into our planning as well.

A huge thank you to our San Gabriel community who supported the Summer Academy, through children’s registrations, scholarship donations and volunteer hours.  Additionally, our San Gabriel teachers deserve much credit, as they made this summer educational, inspirational and fun for our students.  A healthy, thriving summer program is an essential component of a high-achieving school district and SEF is committed to its continued success.     Please visit the SEF website for Summer Academy updates, comments or questions.
