Brand New Mock Trial Courtroom
Calling all incoming 6th – 8th Graders!! Are you interested in learning what it takes to compete successfully on the award-winning JMS Mock Trial Team? Then sign up for the Intro to Mock Trial course this summer ~students will have the opportunity to learn in our brand new Mock Trial Courtroom right on our very own JMS Campus ~ class being taught by Mr. George Carney.
Students assume roles as attorneys, witnesses and courts officers as they learn the principles of the American adversary justice system, trial procedures and the principles of trial advocacy. Topics include: history of the criminal court system, principles of Anglo-American criminal justice, structure and organization of court system, trial roles and requirements, making written and oral legal arguments, courtroom decorum and procedure and successful com- petition strategies.
