Community Impact: Uncovering a World of Possibilities

The one thing that SEF does that enriches the lives of our students is to fund field trips that expose our students to a world outside of San Gabriel and open up educational avenues that otherwise, they would not have access to.

1. Why do you support SEF?

Lon Sellers, Del Mar High School principal, supports SEF because we support students at all levels

That is a pretty simple answer for me. I support SEF because SEF supports kids! I have always appreciated that SEF has made funding available to all of our teachers and schools, especially Del Mar, and not just to high profile specialty programs. I am a firm believer in lifting up everyone, and I think SEF has made it clear that is a goal from them as well.

2.  In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

I will speak for Del Mar. The one thing that SEF does that enriches the lives of our students is to fund field trips that expose our students to a world outside of San Gabriel and open up educational avenues that otherwise, they would not have access to. Many of our students and their families live subsistence lives. When we are able to take them to places that the rest of us take for granted, it opens up possibilities for them.
