Community Impact: Contributing to “the San Gabriel Experience”

SEF continues to raise funds for the sole purpose of supporting our own students. That’s an excellent cause we can all stand behind.

1. Why do you support SEF?

I’ve always supported SEF because they have continued give back to the San Gabriel community. SEF’s main priority is to offer our students enrichment.

It may look different at various grade levels. It can be providing an extra teacher for art or cooking class. It could be purchasing recorders for our entire group of 4th grade students. It can be providing outfits for the arts program at the high school. Guest authors would often visit our multiple school sites share their craft and personal stories.

2. In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

SEF contributes to what we call “the San Gabriel Experience.” They add some sparkle to the children’s lives. They allow kids to participate in programs they might not have access to.

The SEF Summer Enrichment program, for example, was something I was able to personally be a part of for several years. I was Admin for both campuses elementary and middle school. They offered classes in robotics, debate, cooking, art, math, video game design, etc. Every year, we listened to feedback, looked for classes that would gain student interest, and worked diligently to make it a bigger and more improved program. That is the one thing I was happy to take part in.
