SEF offers programs that promotes the diverse population we serve in our community.

1. Why do you support SEF?

Diane Tse supports SEF because it builds a stronger community network among schools, businesses and parents

I support SEF because it builds a stronger community between our schools, city businesses and our local residents. Through various fund-raising events and the generous donations of private citizens and businesses, SEF is able to provide extra curricular activities and enrichment programs for our students.

2. In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

SEF provides enrichment opportunities for our students across all grades. Students can participate in programs that will enhance their individual growth and interest. In addition, SEF offers programs that promotes the diverse population we serve in our community.

Community Impact: Providing a Well-Rounded Education

I love the fact that SEF believes in a well-rounded education that values a holistic approach to education, valuing performing arts as well as academics.

Being a part of the first graduating class of Gabrielino High School, the San Gabriel Unified School District has a special place in my heart. And over the years I have seen the growth of the San Gabriel Educational Foundation and the wonderful opportunities it has provided the students of the school district.

I believe that the foundation has done wonders towards providing all the students of the school district equal opportunities to learn and grow. It is by far one of the most important resource the school district has and so I believe it is also a part of my responsibility to give back where I can.

I want the students of the SGUSD to have all the advantages possible when we send them off into adulthood. I believe SEF is an indispensable part of this.

2.  In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

SEF does so much and that’s the most wonderful part. SEF makes an effort to leave no student behind. I love the fact that SEF believes in a well-rounded education that values a holistic approach to education, valuing performing arts as well as academics. I think all the wonderful afterschool programs and summer programs is one of the most important things SEF does.

Community Impact: Uncovering a World of Possibilities

The one thing that SEF does that enriches the lives of our students is to fund field trips that expose our students to a world outside of San Gabriel and open up educational avenues that otherwise, they would not have access to.

1. Why do you support SEF?

That is a pretty simple answer for me. I support SEF because SEF supports kids! I have always appreciated that SEF has made funding available to all of our teachers and schools, especially Del Mar, and not just to high profile specialty programs. I am a firm believer in lifting up everyone, and I think SEF has made it clear that is a goal from them as well.

2.  In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

I will speak for Del Mar. The one thing that SEF does that enriches the lives of our students is to fund field trips that expose our students to a world outside of San Gabriel and open up educational avenues that otherwise, they would not have access to. Many of our students and their families live subsistence lives. When we are able to take them to places that the rest of us take for granted, it opens up possibilities for them.

Community Impact: Getting Books into Every Students’ Hands

I continue to support SEF because I believe in what the foundation stands for. The enrichment of our children’s education.

1. Why do you support SEF?

Joanne Alston, SGUSD Payroll Specialist, supports SEF because we promote literacy in the District

I continue to support SEF because I believe in what the foundation stands for. The enrichment of our children’s education. But most important they do not put titles on the students but look at every student simply as “a student”.

2.  In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

I love the literacy programs – I want books in every students hands. When I was PTA president at Madison my fund raising was to put books in the library for the students to read. My PTA was not large enough to put books in every students hands. Books enrich the life of everyone who reads.

Community Impact: Ensuring a Bright & Hopeful Future

I support SEF because the Foundation ensures a bright and hopeful future by advocating for our students through investing in various educational programs in our schools.

SEF is a strong component to the success of our students. I support SEF because the Foundation ensures a bright and hopeful future by advocating for our students through investing in various educational programs in our schools. I know I’m not alone in this thinking, as Wilson elementary school staff and families are passionate supporters of SEF as well.

2.  In your opinion, what is the One Thing that SEF does that enriches students’ lives?

SEF’s fundraising savviness has been deservedly highlighted, but perhaps not as apparent, is their inclusive approach to connect families in our community. Parenting workshops such as the Mindful Movement, and creating community engagements though local businesses are a few examples that come to mind. I’m no expert, but it makes sense to me that a strong educational community + a healthy family environment (both physically & mentally) would exponentially level-up our students’ lives.
