SEF’s Excellence in Education Awards
The San Gabriel Educational Foundation has announced the recipients of their Excellence in Education award, previously the Jewels of the District award. The honorees, chosen for their personal and professional commitment to the Foundation and for their significant service, will be recognized at our annual benefit gala on Saturday, April 9th at Cleaver Hall in the Church of our Saviour.
Funds raised at the event will be used to provide program support for every student, in every classroom, in every school in our district.
The honorees are:
Community Member: Kimberly Dobson Garcia
Kimberly is a VP and project specialist for the non-profit organization, Options for Learning. She is a former SEF board member, San Gabriel resident and the mother of 3 children who attended or are attending SGUSD schools. Kimberly is commiteHis support has been.
Community Business Leader: Dan And Syliva Gerstner
An active and dedicated member of the San Gabriel Community for 50 years, Juli has been a fervent supporter of SEF, both personally and professionally. In her position as the Director of Sales for San Gabriel Hilton, she is a valuable partner and is always eager to work with us to ensure successful events. Her work with the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce and San Gabriel City Council has also allowed her to interact with and support SEF, and many other wonderful non-profits groups, to the benefit of the San Gabriel community. We appreciate greatly her past, present and future support of the Foundation.
Community Leader: Vice Mayor Chin Ho Liao
Mr. Arnold is the Principal at Jefferson Middle School. He has been a member of the JMS community for 10 years, first as a counselor, then Assistant Principal and now Principal. The enthusiasm and sincere joy that he exhibits for the success of our middle school students is infectious and he is a leader and advocate for our students. When he was the Assistant Principal and now as Principal, Mr. Arnold has been an ardent supporter of SEF. His participation and support of SEF programs at Jefferson has insured their success. He is a consistent champion of the SEF mission and a valuable asset in our district.
