SEF’s mission to support vital programs of SGUSD continues

Over the years, SEF and SGUSD have made a great team. SEF has been able to provide funding for the music, arts, and other enrichment programs while the district continues to offer our students an excellent education. Community collaborations are essential in creating more robust learning environments for our students and SEF is a committed partner.

SEF is working with the SGUSD to assist and coordinate writing grant applications to address current district priorities and any identified unmet needs. Additionally, SEF writes grants to foundations and corporations to support education and enrichment initiatives. The SEF Grants Committee is interested in hearing from the community. Please send any suggestions or comments to Kimberly Garcia at kdgbop@yahoo.com.

President’s Message

Dear Community,

SEF WORKS—The SEF Board has been very busy this fall with the start of our Annual Fund Campaign, kicking off our first Community Builder Movie Night at Jefferson Middle School and commencing our first November Pride Month (SGUSD Employee Campaign). Currently we are wrapping up our Answer the CallPhone-A-Thon, and planning for our upcoming SEF-A-Palooza Annual Gala.

In the midst of all this activity we had a planning meeting with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, School Site Principals and SEF’s Executive Director, Grant Chair and President to discuss the results of our needs assessment survey that was completed by this group as well as PTA Presidents and SEF board members. The results of this planning meeting will be used to update SEF’s strategic plan and will guide our Business Alliance and Grant Committees’ activities as we compete for Government and Foundational Grants that will support our students’ educational and enrichment endeavors, as well as provide resources to our SGUSD.

As we mature as a board and our activities continue to expand, we are always in need of individuals who have special talents that can assist with our good works. If you would like to assist with grant writing and researching grant opportunities please contact our office, as we can use additional resources to help us accomplish our goals!
